Colored Pencil on 11 X 17 print. I have loved the iris since my youth when I grew up on the fields of a locally well known Iris farm from the 1930’s & 1940’s. The flowers would randomly pop up everywhere and I would transplant the bulbs. When I got a home to garden myself I made a collection I still have to this day of world champions and enjoy them every year. In history, the Greek Goddess Iris, was the messenger of the gods and the personification of the rainbow, acted as the link between heaven and earth. The meanings of the iris has come to include faith, hope, wisdom, passion, courage and admiration.
