The Daisy (of the Asteraceae (Latin word for “star) flower family “Asters” which includes over 32,000 species)

These flowers not only resemble bright stars, they’re also named for the Greek goddess Astraea who turned into a star. They represent spiritual faith and the eternal life of the soul, and the opportunity to begin again, no matter the mistakes we’ve made in our past. For some, they are also symbols of reincarnation, new beginnings, hope, innocence, fun and affection.

From a Celtic legend. Due to their bright and cheerful nature, daisies are most often used to symbolize purity and innocence. According to this legend, God would sprinkle daisies over the earth to cheer up parents who had lost a child.

Associated with the Norse goddess Freya, who was a fertility goddess, (among other things) they represent newborns, babies, fertility and motherhood
