Iris Botanical

I have loved the iris since my early teens when I grew up on the fields of a locally well known Iris farm from the 1930’s & 1940’s. The flowers would randomly pop up everywhere and I would transplant the bulbs. While researching botanicals of sunflowers I discovered them again and drew this, they never cease to amaze me. In history, the Greek Goddess Iris, was the messenger of the gods and the personification of the rainbow, acted as the link between heaven and earth. The meanings of the iris has come to include faith, hope, wisdom, passion, courage and admiration. Part of my Nature series
